Digital Wall Media Roll Manufacturing & Coating Machine
Integrated Roll-to-Roll Coating Line for Printable Wallpaper, Wall Graphics and Digital Décor Media
The Digital Wall Media Roll Manufacturing & Coating Machine is a machine that is used to manufacture printable wall-decoration media through the process of applying ink receptive coatings to paper or suitable non-woven fabrics or synthetic materials. The process ensures that even coating is applied on the wall decoration media to give uniform results.

Engineered for Printable Wall-Media Production
Wallpapers and wall graphics must have a well-prepared surface. The substrate without proper treatment can lead to ink absorption issues, dull colors or spread of ink around the printed image. Different coating thicknesses can also lead to color variations within the finished roll in its width or length.
The Digital Wall Media Roll Manufacturing Machine provides the media with the coating which improves ink acceptance and printability properties of the substrate. The base material is unwound with certain tension control, introduced into the coating station where the coating is applied in the width of the working web. The coated web enters the drying station where all moisture/solvent from the substrate is removed under control conditions without damaging the material.
The dried media is cooled and rewound in aligned jumbo rolls ready for slitting, printing, embossing, laminating etc. The machine design can be adjusted to different substrates, coatings, digital printing technologies and surfaces required.
Designed for Consistent Ink Reception and Surface Finish
The last characteristic of digitally printed wall media is dependent upon the coating that is applied before printing. This coating has to ensure proper ink holdout properties while providing for good anchoring of ink to the surface. Too much absorption leads to poor colours, whereas not enough of it results in drying issues and ink smearing.
The coating unit can be equipped with different systems of application such as air-knife, comma, gravure, Mayer-bar etc., depending on viscosity, coat weight, absorption rate and other criteria. Tension control ensures that the substrate remains straight during coating and drying processes. Multi-zone temperature control facilitates gradual drying, and good rewind minimizes risks of telescoping and misalignment of edges. This whole process makes it possible to manufacture wall media with reproducible whiteness and smoothness, and proper ink adhesion.
Why the Right Coating Determines Print Quality
Digital wall media needs to be receptive to the ink, while allowing limited absorption and no surface migration of the ink. In case of any variation in the coating on the web, there is a possibility of getting different color results, as well as poor print quality and uneven drying.
The presence of dust, foam and pinholes on the surface may be visible after high-resolution printing. The Digital Wall Painting Media Coating Machine manages coating transfer, web movement and drying in one process.
It ensures the formation of the uniform surface for printing sharp graphics, proper ink reception and good color reproduction. Selection of the proper formulation is also critical. The coating formula needs to fit the type of printing, such as inkjet aqueous, eco-solvent, solvent, latex or UV printing.

Frequently Asked Questions
An online or separate embossing arrangement can be considered based on the required pattern, substrate and production process.
Yes, provided the coating section, web tension and drying system are configured for the selected non-woven substrate.
Yes. Coating weight can be controlled through coating-head settings, formulation viscosity, web speed and application pressure.
Matt, smooth, satin or other finishes may be developed through a suitable combination of coating formulation, coating method and substrate.
The finished media may be developed for aqueous inkjet, eco-solvent, solvent, latex or UV printing. Coating chemistry must be selected for the intended ink system.
Air-knife, comma, Mayer-bar, gravure or other suitable coating methods can be provided according to the formulation and surface requirement.
Depending on machine configuration, it can process paper, non-woven fabric, coated paper and selected synthetic or film-based media.
No. The machine processes a ready base substrate by applying the required printable coating, drying it and rewinding it into finished wall-media rolls.
