Precision Coating for Reliable Tape Performance
The effectiveness of the bond of a self-adhesive tape largely depends on the uniformity of the adhesive coating. An excessive amount of coating will result in increased consumption of adhesives and cost of manufacture, while a lack or unevenness of coating can cause poor bonding.
The Self-Adhesive Tape Coating Machine controls the adhesive coating along the entire width of the working area in accordance with the required coating weight. Tension control and web guiding keep the BOPP film in place during the process of coating and drying.
Working Process
The film roll made of BOPP is loaded onto the unwinding section and supplied to the machine at a constant tension. Prior to coating, the film is guided through the web guidance unit which aligns the web. The application of the required amount of adhesive to the surface of the film takes place in the coating unit.
Then the coated web is supplied to the drying zone where heat treatment is carried out with a controlled flow of air. Moisture or solvent is evaporated according to the type of adhesive used. The dried web is cooled and re-rolled into an adhesive-coated jumbo roll. It can be slit and rewound into packaging tapes.

BOPP film is lightweight and stretchable, and it wrinkles or moves as tension varies during manufacture. These changes can impact coating quality and jumbo-roll formation. The machine controls the web tension in a coordinated way, by means of unwinding, coating, drying and rewinding. Proper web control prevents wrinkles, edge movement and uneven winding while preserving the coated surface from production problems.
Materials and Adhesive Compatibility
The machine is primarily designed for applying adhesive coating onto BOPP film. The final coating arrangement is selected according to film characteristics, adhesive formulation, target coating weight and required production output.
