Advanced Eight Colour Printing for Flexible Packaging
Packaging today typically involves complicated designs, incorporating brand colours, product photographs, fine writing, barcodes and ornamental graphics. These designs must be maintained in proper register throughout the production roll.
Our Eight Colour Rotogravure Printing Machine has eight individual printing units, allowing each colour to be applied independently. The registration mechanism controls the position of each colour while steady web tension prevents stretching, wrinkling and print mis-registration.
Each printing station is provided with an efficient drying arrangement, in order that the applied ink dries before the substrate comes into the next colour unit. This helps produce clean drawings, minimize ink mixing and support uninterrupted printing at the set production speed.
How the Machine Works
The substrate roll is first loaded to the unwinding section. Controlled tension feeds the material into the first printing unit, where an etched cylinder transfers the first colour onto its surface.
The printed substrate next goes to the drying chamber and subsequently to the next colour station. This continues through all the eight printing units. Registration controls help keep the colours aligned as the material moves through the machine.
After the final colour is applied and dried, the finished printed material is collected by the rewinding system in a properly tensioned roll. The printed roll can then be sent for lamination, slitting, pouch making or another converting process.
Key Features
- Smooth Roll Handling : The unwind and rewind systems support controlled roll movement, consistent tension and properly aligned finished rolls.
- Uniform Ink Transfer : Precisely controlled printing pressure and ink circulation help maintain even ink transfer across the complete printing width.
- Efficient Drying Between Colours : A dedicated drying arrangement removes solvent or moisture between printing units and helps prevent smudging or unwanted colour mixing.
- Stable Web-Tension Control : Controlled unwinding, printing and rewinding maintain consistent substrate tension across all printing stations.
- Accurate Colour Registration : The registration-control system helps align all eight colours correctly, producing sharp images, readable text and consistent graphics.
- Eight Individual Printing Stations : The machine contains eight printing units for producing multi colour packaging designs in a single continuous production process.
Benefits for Packaging Manufacturers
- Flexible Production Capability : The machine can process multiple flexible packaging substrates when equipped with the appropriate tension, drying and ink systems.
- Reduced Printing Waste : Better web control and colour alignment help reduce substrate loss caused by wrinkles, web movement and misregistration.
- Consistent Long-Run Quality : Stable tension, accurate registration and controlled ink transfer maintain uniform print quality across large production quantities.
- Stronger Brand Presentation : Vibrant colours, sharp graphics and consistent printing help brands create attractive packaging with better shelf visibility.
- Complex Designs in One Production Run : Eight printing stations allow manufacturers to produce detailed packaging designs without running the material through separate printing processes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. The machine can print packaging used for snacks, biscuits, spices, tea, coffee, frozen foods and other products. Suitable inks and compliant downstream processes must be selected for the specific food-packaging application.
Yes. A turret unwind and rewind system can be provided for applications requiring faster roll changes and reduced production interruptions.
Yes. Shafted, shaftless, MLS and ELS configurations can be manufactured according to the required speed, automation and budget.
Yes. An automatic registration-control system can be provided to maintain colour alignment and reduce manual correction during production.
Yes. An eight colour machine can operate with fewer active printing stations when a packaging design requires only two, four, six or another number of colours.
Depending on the machine configuration, it can print on BOPP, PET, PVC, CPP, LDPE, HDPE, metallized film, aluminium foil, laminated films and paper.
It is a roll-to-roll printing machine containing eight individual gravure printing stations. Each station applies one colour to produce detailed multi colour designs on film, foil, paper or laminated packaging material.
