Manual Drum Type LD Film Slitting Machine
Simple & Controlled Slitting for Flexible LD Film
The Manual Drum Type LD Slitting Machine is intended for the production of narrow reels out of wide LD and LDPE film reels, providing at the same time the operator with actual control over the process of slitting. LD films are rather soft and flexible films; therefore, there is a need to handle them carefully in order not to stretch, fold or roll them incorrectly. Adjustments of cutting positions can be made manually depending on the needed width of the finished product. The drum-type rewinding system facilitates the formation of stable reels from the slit films during production.

Handling Soft LD Film Without Excessive Stretch
LD films are different from rigid substrates because they can be stretched due to excessive pulling force. When slitting is carried out, the web should have sufficient control so that it remains straight but allows for natural travel throughout the machine.
Adjustments in the settings can be made based on the thickness of the film, its elasticity, the width of the parent roll, and the slit size required. Web alignment prior to entering the cutting area will help in eliminating any sideways motion and keeping the cut lines consistent.
This method works well when slitting thinner LD films since it prevents dimensional changes in the resulting reels and wrinkles on the film.
Drum-Supported Winding for Flexible Film Reels
After cutting, LD film needs to be rewound without creating excessive pressure between the layers. The drum winding arrangement supports the finished reels as they grow, helping the flexible material settle gradually around the core.
The operator can observe roll formation and adjust winding conditions according to the behaviour of the film. This helps reduce problems such as loose layers, telescoping, wrinkles, shifted edges, and irregular reel shapes.
Properly formed LD reels are easier to handle during storage and provide smoother unwinding when supplied to bag-making, sealing, wrapping, or other downstream converting equipment.
Why Manual Control Is Useful for LD Film Conversion
LD film orders can vary considerably in thickness, width, reel diameter, and end use. Manual adjustment provides flexibility when production involves different reel specifications or frequent job changes.
Instead of maintaining one fixed setup, the operator can position the slitting arrangement according to each order and monitor how the soft film behaves during processing. This is particularly practical for customized or shorter production runs.
Combining operator-controlled adjustment, stable web travel, flexible-film handling, and drum-supported rewinding provides a straightforward solution for preparing LD film reels for further production.
